SfS Web Site Template

Special Information

Making Links to From One Page to Another

Curiosity pays! Links in the short subjects on the home page template bring you here.

The briefs on the home page could be used to introduce subjects for which more detailed articles are available. The full article can be a HTML page, such as this, or a PDF document.

To link to other pages or documents, you use code like this ...

<a href="mypage.html">My Page</a>
or ...
<a href="mypage.pdf">My Page</a>

You can also link to other native formats, such as Microsoft Word "doc" or Excel "xls", but that is not recommended, since computers not running Windows and Microsoft Office may not know how to open such files. You should use Click-To-Convert® to convert such formats to HTML or PDF.

To keep your web site tidy, you might wish to keep all documents of a certain type in a folder of their own. For example, you might create a new folder exclusively for minutes of your meetings. In that case, use a link like this ...

<a href="minutes/20070729minutes.html">Minutes for 2007 Annual Meeting</a>

You can learn more about links at this page on the W3 Schools web site.
